What are your goals this season?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I want to cover a good part of the western basis of my lake . I intend to fish it early in the morning, during the daylight hours, late at night ,during the nite in all conditions. there are big fish in that lake .big walleye ,pike and bass. I've seen plenty caught ,just have to dedicate more time to it. Being retired that won't be hard to do.

thats my goals right there: Tried to beat my personnal walleye record bigger than a 5lbs. Hope to get a musky in the 40" beat my personnal bet that was around 30". Hope to get a bass over 6 lbs thats worth mounted. I would love to go salmon fishing and hope to go fishing with some hawk talker. And hope to get alot of bulhead this spring.

Just to let you know thats as soon as the ice is gone then its bulhead or barbotte time fishing. Catching them is just as fun as for the other species like walleye bass pike and during that time the season is closed for these species and did you know theres bulhead right in your own back yard on the Ottawa the Nation the Castor the Rideau. And its the best time to introduced that sports to a kids or a new fisherman because your pretty shure they gone catch some fish and the last thing those fish are good eating. I cant wait to go barbotte fishing. If anybody want more info on that fishing just send me a pm.

Yes I love fishing for barbotte. There is a nice place on my lake for those. I see a good many people fishing that area in the spring. I used to fish for those with my dad and an uncle of mine. We would fish all night . It was great. Good memories of a time gone long ago.

for those heading the the may Hawk Talk adventure weekend yu can fish in bellows bay close to westmeath. thats where we went for them when i was a kid with my grandpa and unlces, (father wasnt an outdoorsman) and always caught a lot. what we used for them (at the time it seemed kinda funny) was about 4-5 dozen worms and used black line and threaded each worm through the whole body till you had about 1 1/2-2 dozen on, then start tying knots together till you had a big ball of worms and no hooks. when you feel the weight just pull it up easy and into the pale they went.

as for goals this season, one big one i have is to get my father out fishing with me. hes not an outdoorsman but use to fish with his dad when he was a kid on Golden Lake. hes been out with me twice late last season and we had a good time together. this season i just hope that we can at least catch a fish this time around.lol. he's retired now so i dont think time will be an issue, just gotta get him started. this is going to be a great year.

WIG. Us guys filmed tonnes of footage when out west last fall with the sturgeon and I have yet to get a copy of that tape. :x :x :x

This year I hope to involve my daughter Summer a little more and go on the best 3 week fishing road trip of all time.
