putting away the power auger

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

putting away the power auger

Post by Jale »

After tomorrow the power auger will be going away till next fall.

What do you fellas do to them? I was just going to do the same as the outboard- add some fuel treatment and maybe a quick fog. Maybe put some vaseline on the blades

Anything else that should be done?

I do the same thing that you do. Although the instructions say to remove the gas from the tank . I have not done this and the auger usually starts after the third pull. I just keep it clean and store it in the back shed until the next season. That is it.

You could take the spark plug out and spray some lube in it for the summer months, it help the rings in it and the wall in side to stay clean and stop the rust build up that occurs when not in use.

My auger is now close to 15 years old and I haven't ever done anything to it to store it for the summer months.

Mind you I will this year... I'll just add some gas stabilizer and that's about all.

Hey folks,
Just some questions, what do you mean by fog? and what kind of lubricant do you put in the spark plug hole.
Thanks a bunch

Hey Junior,

you can buy "fogging" spray at Canadian Tire.....It's a lubricant that displaces any water I believe, before storage! I use it on my 4-stroke as well!! One can will last quite awhile, especially if you're only using it for the auger!

I intend

I intend To put vaseline on the blades, empty the gas tank, run the auger dry of gas, then pour a little oil into the cylinder.

Has worked for my other small engines, why change that now! lol

This fogging sounds good, just never tried it, and seems complicated
