OK, what exactly is flossing? I didn't know salmonids were so sensitive to dental plaque and gingivitis.

Sparky, flossing occurs when the line is run through the fishes mouth(either visually by the angler or the fish swims into it) and then the fish can be hooked through the mouth, usually on the outside of the mouth.

It's a legal way of snagging them really.

Many "Techs" will catch you fish bro, its just some are protective of the areas, and fish that are there, and if you are fishing in a method they see as "Snagging" they will label you, but also if your fishing legally, and following the rules, let them say what they will.A foul hooked fish is a FOUL FISH, so immideate release or break off will ensure the survival of the fish, and hooks arent expensive either

I'll write a "Float set-up" tonight for everyone to see, and the cost of a small lead, splits, and a hook is alot cheaper than fighting a foul hooked fish.

I float formost, and love to see my float drop, but if someone is following the rules, honestly nothing can be said or done.Floaters are a breed cut from a small stone

I routinely use 2 hooks on the leader,while float fishing.

A common technique is a small glo bug(egg imitation made of yarn),with a streamer 6 inches behind.

At the end of the drift,stop the float from drifting further,it'll swing in the current.

It represents a minnow chasing a egg,deadly at times.

Also works well b.bouncing too.

Perfectly legal.

Bunk the best ettiquette tip I can give is that if you happen upon another angler and he's floating...don't cast. If he's casting...don't float.

FF. Center pin reels...? Is that the only choice, I beleive I remember seeing "BOB" just using a spincast, and maybe even Pendlington doing the same on TV this morning for his steelies.

I got so many flies now some trout better start eating 'em up soon.

Skein, that does sound smart, and I'm sure presents in the water like something that commonly occurs naturally. Now if you had that egg chasing the streamer would that be tactical for one of those real slow days on the water.

My 2¢...

Bottom bouncing is not for still waters. It involves throwing your line out without a float, with just enough weight so that the current carries your offering along the bottom. The anger must watch the line for those subtle takes. This is a common technique in the US and out west. If you snap your rod at the end of each drift, you graduate to "ripper".

I don't bottom bounce, but I did have some success with it on the Nipigon river a couple of summers ago, as the water was much deeper and faster than I am accustomed to as far as float fishing is concerned.

Ganny style "bottom bouncing" is really "plunking". This is what the night time guys do. It works best when the fish are moving close to the bottom with their mouths open. I'll leave it at that, other than to say I noticed the city has put up "no overnight camping signs" all over the river.

Lining and flossing, is legal, but in my view "dirty pool" because it violates the idea that fishing is about enticing the fish to take your bait. Fishing a hole with 50 fish in it with a long lead is a dead givaway that this is going on. If the fish are visible and agitated, thats another. If your rig can touch bottom, you're liable to be doing it. I stopped fishing the upper reaches of the tribs long ago because the ratio of foul hooked/lined fish to legal fish was too high. And even if you hook one fair, it has no place to go. Lining fish in shallow water is the easiest thing in the world, flyfishermen are experts at this. Visit the Ganny in September after a good rain and you will see what I mean. If it doesn't rain, what you see are a lot of guys in waders, looking lost, wondering where the fish are.

Bunk, not at all are "Pins" the only option.You can efectivly use spin, baitcast, or fly equip to "Float" for them.

The pin gives a longer, no resistance, drag free drift.
