Board Problems Update

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Board Problems Update

Post by Bobber »

Hello all,

First, I'd like to apolgize for all the troubles you've been experiencing with Hawk Talk. We are continuing to contact our provider to find out what is happening and when it will stop. I understand that some are getting frustrated with the lack of stability, and again...sorry for that.

We are doing everything we possibly can to get to the bottom of it and get us back up and running properly. Worst case scenario is that we'll change providers, if in fact it is the provider that is causing these problems. That's a lot of work and if we have to do it, we'll need to ask for your patience and understanding.

Thanks all. We'll get to the root of the problem and fix it one way or another. Thanks for your patience so far and hang in there.

Lol, my Dad joined and posted a message and then he got that error creating new session message, so he called me, and sure enough, I had it too. He was all worried he broke the site. Made me laugh.

BigSim,

That's funny. Seriously though, I want this to stop.

Anyway, new update. I've re-synched, re-hashed, repaired, optimized, and analyzed database tables up the ying yang. I've sent notes to our provider asking for expainations of what's going on. Some of you were getting error messages when trying to get into some forums, that should be fixed now.....hopefully.

I'll be ugrading the site TONIGHT to the latest version of software code. Cross your fingers, hope all goes well, and if I do this right, you should not even know it has been done. Hopefully all this will fix the things that are wrong.

My feeling though, is that we have some database corruption that is causing all these problems. I hope not, cause that's even more work to try and fix.

Cover me..........I'm go'in in!

Consider Yourself Covered

Good luck and I hope you get it fixed, but a wise man once said, "To err is human, but to really mess things up you need a computer!"

Just kidding, We non-techinically inclined hawk-talkers, thank you for your efforts.

Bobber, we use the same server as you at Niagara Fishing Net and I can tell you that I've had enough of them. We are looking for another one to suit our needs because of all the downtime we've had the past few months.

Not getting in is one thing, and I can understand that. Now I get a message that the non-fishing forum doesn't exist. What's with that?

Rocky, when you get that message hit refresh and see what happens. It is strange.

MIGRATION SUCCESSFUL

Fish-Hawk.Net is pleased to announce that we have successfully upgraded the Hawk Talk Angling Forums to the latest version of phpBB code.

This new code fixes a number of subtle bugs, increases security, and will hopefully be a little more stable than the older version.

We've changed directory structures, so if you have Hawk Talk bookmarked, please update these bookmarks to avoid this message in the future. I'll be deleting the old code sometime next week and doing some house cleaning at the same time.

Once again, thank you for your cooperation and patience.

Now on to Fishing!

Are there still people having problems with the Non-Fishing Forum? I had to delete it and re-create it to fix the problem I was having. All messages are still there, it's just a new index for the forum. Send me an e-mail if there are people still having problems with it.

Thx, Bobber. :D

No problems that I've noted today in the Non-Fishing forum -- or anywhere else for that matter.

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

For some reason my password doesn't work and it tells me that my e-mail address is incorrect when I try to use the "Forgot Password" link. Any help appreciated.

Hey fff,

It seems to be working for me. You might have a resource problem on your computer. Try rebooting your machine to see if that does anything.

If there is anyone having this problem let me know.
