** VIRUS ALERT **

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

This brings up an interesting point, do anti-viruses like McPhee and Norton scan MSN Messenger :?: I can't recall off hand.

Well I hope everyone recovered from this one. I managed to clean my machine....I think....and it seems to be working fine now. Here is what I did.

1) Went into Settings, Control Panel, Remove Software and removed all software that I was not aware I had on there. This includes tool bars and even those I had no idea what they were.

2) Ran Ad-Aware SE Personal available from Lavasoft (It's free) and removed everything it found.

3) Ran Spybot - Search & Destroy and removed everything it found.
http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html

4) Ran McAffee Virus Scan and it did not find anything.

5) Removed all instances from my firewall and re-synchronized with those programs that I know need to connect outside.

Re-booted, and all seemed to be OK after that.

I have not tried the tool that CCB mentioned, but perhpas I'll look into it as well.....just to make sure.

The best solution is to actually take your windows pc; hook it up to your tow hitch and tow it down to your nearest Mac dealer. They will see you coming and put you on a nice virus free Mac. Virtually no viruses for the Mac. Plus there is a list of other reasons why the world should actually go Mac!

Cheers,

Scott
