1 down...but we gotta get more of them!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

1 down...but we gotta get more of them!!

Post by Markus »

Found this report on the net...no pun intended. :P This is local to me and brings me great pleasure to know action was taken - not enough in my opinion, but action non the less.
NETTING SPAWNING TROUT LANDS $1000 FINE

ST. THOMAS - A Straffordville man has been fined $1000.00 and banned from fishing for a year for netting and possessing rainbow trout during the closed spawning season.

Court heard that on March 30 this year, a Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officer found Michael Hesch, 52, with three adult rainbow trout taken from Little Otter Creek, Bayham. Two of the fish were carrying several hundred eggs.

In the spring, trout migrate from Lake Erie to the headwaters of various streams to spawn. The fish are highly visible in the shallow waters, making them easy targets.

The trout season in Southwestern Ontario opens the last Saturday in April.

Justice of the Peace Jan Levitt heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, St. Thomas on April 22.

The public is encouraged to help protect its natural resources by reporting violations to the local Ministry of Natural Resources office or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

GOOD NEWS -- the silver lining to a dark cloud.

I agree, fines / penalties should be stiffer. (public spanking! )

There was also a few right ups in my local paper recently about walleye poachers. 3 hundred, 4 hundred dollar fines not even a slap on the wrist.

I think Jazman has the right idea

Tie em up in a bag of rats, and drown em :?:

Or maybe do something REALLLLLLLLL nasty

Thousand dollar fine seems a bit light.
