Perch weekend

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Perch weekend

Post by jsdx »

It was a bit windy, but we setup on Saturday on the Big Rideau and the perch were on immediately. We get skunked more than we like on ice :) so when we got the first smaller ones we kept them. Turns out some larger ones showed up as well which was fine with us. Did a few hours and headed in.

We had 8 inches of black ice, which was lucky, normally this bay has 14+ and we were drilling old school with a hand auger.

You could see schools on the bottom. 12 ft flats, light weed bottom, on a jigging blade bait, copper.

Fried perch appetizer at dinner.

Yeah thanks for the info. We use a hand auger too, budget lol.

I personally like to fish for perch on constance lake. The perch schools are generally on the weed beds (unless there are pike in the area lol), but the trouble there is that you can catch a lot of perch, but about 70% of them arent worth keeping, just a bunch of micros. Too bad. I should start looking for another spot. Might go try constance bay and buckham's bay for some walleye. Does anyone know if there are perch at constance bay?
