Urban fishing?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I never found a place I'd try around Champlain bridge... on the islands, the water seems a bit shallow.

Otherwise, I tried a few places along the Ottawa river on the Hull side. There are many trails reaching the river. For now, the water level seems a bit too high... I'm guessing water is too cold to since the water is moving quite fast around here. I only caught panfishes there... but that's mostly what we are fishing for. My GF got a nice pike last year though.

With a little more free time on my hands, I'd like to check out some of the urban spots. Anyone going some time, just drop me a note.

cheers,

went and had a look at the area last night... figured I could start fishing from the small rapids (OC transpo bridge) behind Carleton and work my way down. Which shoreline is best? I don't have waders, but I don't mind getting my feet wet.

cheers,

currently ... area below Billing bridge produces decent size of smallmouth, pickerel and occasionally pike.
If you access river from the south side (there is sun building right beside Harvey's that you can park) you'll notice small creek that runs into Rideau..Access river on that location and you'll notice it's good for wading .I might even meet you there ..usually I go there when fly fishing
For eyes you'll need to cast into the main stream (canal) of river.
