New Feature Added to Registration

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I think this is going in the right direction.

The MCI board is real names and yo umust register to read or post

I think thats the onl way to 100% get rid of the unwanted post or people but I'm not knocking waht bobber has done

It's a great start and a great idea and I truley beleive will pay off in the long run.

Good Job

No problem. What's really funny to me is all the phone calls I got right before the last federal election. Like Stephen Harper the politician would actually have a listed phone number and live in Brockville. The best part is I'm an American.....where is Rick Mercier for this one??!!

Hi Bobber,
I like the name idea, and have gladly added mine. Maybe one day I can also learn how to post my avatar. I think both help when we happen to meet other members in person.

I haven't quite figured out how proper name use will be enforced, but I have no problem including mine. If this step helps, all the better.

Beeman,

We'll do what we can, and will probably be difficult, which is why I have not done this earlier. The feature at this time is more for those who wish to include their real names.

Now having said that, I've seen the majority of users not mind putting their names, and I do appreciate that....actually like to see it instead of just nicknames, but I have also received notes from some who don't like. it.

Fair enough, I can see why some would not want to publish their full names on the Internet, which is why I only ask for First names for new registrations, and for existing registrations, if you don't want to update it, no worries, just continue as you are today. It's more of a feature I suppose than an enforcement thing.

Not sure what it accomplishes but if guys like it...

It'll be interesting to see the "real" names used by the next troll....

RJ - I think you're right on both counts - Can not see the point of names, especially on a data base that can be accessed without logging in and a net troll will not use their name.

I agree guys, this is why I have not done this before now, however seems many like the idea of having the Option of putting in their names. Personally, I like to be able to associate names to nicknames, but that's just my preference I suppose.

You may be right on the next troll, putting in improper names, and if that happens, then we'll revist the names thing, but let's give it a try and see what happens shall we. Who knows, seems to work for some reason on other boards according to notes I've received. I'm always open to give new things a try. So far so good....knock on wood.

cheers,
