I concur Maple. I am going to wait untill Feb, untill I hit Quinte again. Those fish are not going anywhere.Maple wrote:Talked to the BOQ bait shop today and they could not recommend any safe ice locations. Also tried to hook up with a guide for tomorrow and they said nope. None of their spots were safe.......just pray for cold.
I'll wait.

Plus, in the meantime. I am going to hit up some local smaller lakes, and fill my freezer with tasty panfish. They are easy and fun to catch, fishing to me, is not always about chasing that elusive PB!

Hay Bay Ice
The ice on Hay Bay from the SHermans Launch ramp to the south side is aprrox 9 - 10 inches with lots of water as a skim on the dark ice.
LOTS of frozen shad in the ice....
We were out on Monday, and drilled 15 holes thru very solid ice.
Hope that Helps

Thanks for the information everyone. Looking forward to my first trip to the BoQ this weekend, I'll post results when (if) I get back haha. Don't worry, we're going with a (hopefully experienced) guide.
