Reel Cleaning...that time again....

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

We'll have to start a new thread in the non-fishing section one of these days! I could go on forever about Whisky! If you like the big bodied flavor, Glendronach is a 100% Highland Single matured in Sherry casks that have been used to age Sherry in Spain. This is a more resonable priced Single Malt.

I had to take this photo of the top of my desk as I sit here:

One of my more fond memories with the scotch was during a week long canoe trip in Temagami. Glendronach was on the menu for the week and was finished off neat by the end of the trip. Highlands with a full strong body and usually that accompanying "bite" I find are better scotches for the outdoors, and the flask, and especially colder weather. The smoother brands I find I enjoy more after dinner or when just relaxing indoors.

Amazing TS how were going on about this in the reel cleaning post, but hey, there's nothing more satisfying than cleaning a reel while cleaning your soul with scotch at the same time.

   The stuff is thick and oily enough RJ and not much good for anything else

I think that you need to use the JD on yourself while cleaning the reels though, that'll help you in the process for sure.

Must be nice to have selection.

The reserve here is RUM, Beer and Rye territory,

Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Johnny, Grants, Lagavulin and Maclellans are the only choices, with the occassional special order of Cragganmore by some teacher in town. I've had just about my fill of all of them, and now have Paul at the LCBO holding vintages under $50 for me in Perth. Sad thing is I only get down there once or twice a year.

Scotch is definetly the finest spirit on earth.

Will fix/service Penn 209M or 309M reels for single malt!
Lagavulin or Laphroaig will get you premium reel service with a smile.

I know I am off topic right now but I do also use 3 in one oil. I find it better than other "reel" oil.

Thanks for getting us back on track BASSSTALKER. These guys and their yappin about booze, what's the world coming to?

Now, here's a tip for frosty mornings on the river. Repcon or RainX for windshields is much better than PAM vegetable spray for keeping ice off your line guides!
